One of Barefoot Sailing Club's main objectives is education.  We make our members better sailors by offering the following:

   • Racing committee training - How to do the flags for a fleet start and setting up a race course
   • Monthly Sailing Education - At each month's meeting we have a mini education lesson
   • Various seminars - Miscellaneous training seminars held hroughout the year.

Georgia Boating

New law as of July 1st, 2014: Anyone born on or after Jan 1, 1998, must have a Georgia Boater Education Card to operate any motorized watercraft.

2017 Introduction to Sailing - April 29th and May 6th  - Wing Fling to follow at Aqualand Pavilion
The Introduction to Sailing course is always a big hit with those new to sailing as well as a refresher course for those with some sailing experience. In addition to three evenings of classroom instruction, every student will participate in two on the water sessions to apply the skills taught, as well as to experience the joy of sailing.
You will learn the basics of sail boat handling, safety requirements and procedures, rules of the road, some knots, sailing etiquette, some terminology, and other topics designed to enable you to safely handle a sail boat. You will also meet some the best sailors on Lake Lanier who will be teaching the course.

If you missed this event, you missed some great training.  The instructors were great.  Everyone learned something and had a good time.  Thanks to LLSC for hosting the event.

Race Committee Training - we offer a class and on the water training on how to conduct race committee.  Was offered on Sunday, March 15th from 1 - 5pm at Carson Pavilion, UYC, 6649 Yacht Club Road, Flowery Branch, GA.

Vessel Safety Checks

Atlanta Sail and Power Squadron offers vessel safety checks.

The Vessel Safety Check process is  one of  “prevention through education".  This is a courtesy examination only, there will not be any citations given.  You will receive a copy of their evaluation so that you may follow some of the suggestions given.
