The Barefoot Sailing Club:

Where you don't need to own a sailboat -- just have a love of sailing!

Atlanta's Barefoot Sailing Club has been in existence for over 30 years. That makes it one of the oldest clubs on Lake Lanier.

What makes us different? Glad you asked! Well, unlike most other sailing clubs that require you to own a boat in order to join, all we require is that you own a desire to sail! Many of our members and board of directors don't own a boat.

While we do have a wide variety of boats (and for that matter - owners) in our club, we encourage you to become part of our extended crew for races, cruises and social activities. That way, you get to enjoy the camaraderie of being a crewmember, meet new friends and also get to "try out" a lot of different of boats.

Barefoot has a number of activities going on year round with the BFSC. If you like the laid back, party attitude of cruising, we have two cruises per month. They are on the first Saturday and third Sunday of each month. Come on out and enjoy cruising on Lake Lanier. We usually conclude the cruise with a "Raft-up" party in some quiet cove where we can let our sails down and have some fun. "Would you like to see a real party?"

If you have a more aggressive personality, we have a very competitive racing fleet with races in both PHRF and One Design courses. We are always looking for people to help out as both crew and to serve on the race committee.

So you don't know how to sail; but, you do want to learn? BFSC offers  several different "Learn to Sail" programs through out the year. You not only learn the technical side of sailing; but, you also get practical application on REAL sailboats!

Come on out and have a great time with us. We sail all year and have something to fit your level of interest.
